Enter the next round of our ABDC Elimination Challenge contest now!

The Elimination Challenge: Which crews will be in the bottom 2 each week and which one will be eliminated? Enter each week; the person with the highest cumulative score for Season 6 wins an ABDC crew shirt of their choice and size (up to $35 value).

To enter: Each week, we'll publish a new post for this contest. When the weekly post is up, leave a comment with the names of the bottom 2, specifying which one is eliminated. For example, in Season 3, a winning entry for Week 7 would have read: "BOTTOM 2 WEEK 7 - Quest, Fly Khicks. Eliminated: Fly Khicks." From now on, you will be awarded 1 point for each crew you name in the bottom 2 that week, and an extra point for identifying the eliminated crew, for a total of 3 possible points per week.  This week's deadline: midnight on Monday May 2, 2011. UPDATE: THIS WEEK'S ROUND IS NOW CLOSED; NO MORE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.
The next round will be posted a day or two after the airing of ABDC's Rihanna Challenge.
**IMPORTANT**: Create a user name you will use every week for the entire contest, and make it memorable (not just a common first name or word). I can't track email addresses, and if it's difficult for me to track votes, they won't be counted.

Review of ABDC's Katy Perry Challenge by Byeynyn

Here's a review of ABDC's Katy Perry Challenge by Byenyn. Thanks to all the readers who have sent these to me. I'm spreading them out over the next day or two so that each will be given the attention they deserve!
Last week, eight crews danced to mostly so-so songs by the Black Eyed Peas. ReQuest and FootworKINGz were the bottom two crews, possibly because Chicago was too busy watching Derrick Rose to vote for FWK and I still don’t even know if New Zealanders are allowed to vote. Ultimately, the FootworKINGz had to shuffle off the stage. Seven crews are left to try and work a routine to songs by Katy Perry. We’re slowly reaching the point in the show where we start getting a stronger sense of the crew’s styles. In sports, they say one’s a fluke, two’s a coincidence, and three’s a trend. This is the third performance of all the crews, and discernible patterns are being shown, both good and bad. Crews without strong dance identities will eventually fall by the wayside. And, Jaja speaks about her ABDC inspiration. Thanks for the camerawork and production, MOVeMEDIA!

Review of ABDC's Katy Perry Challenge by JustAnABDCFan

Hey there!  I know, you’re probably thinking right now, who’s this guy?  Isn’t he that random dude on the boards that just posts long messages?  The answer to that question is…well, yes, you’re right.  Beyond that, however, I’m a very big America’s Best Dance Crew fan, and I really appreciate what this show does for crews, for fans, and most importantly, for dance.  But you’re wondering what qualifications I have to be reviewing dancers and crews to begin with aren’t you?  INTRODUCTION TIME IT IS.

Hi!  My name is Michael, but I go by JustAnABDCFan on the boards here at BABDC because quite frankly I am.  I’m not superior to anyone, I’m no better than the next guy (or girl), and I don’t want to seem like I put myself on some sort of pedestal.  I really enjoy being humble, and that’s how it is.  Technicality wise, I’m a dancer and I am currently pursuing it as my primary career (while still focusing on an English degree, because this economy sucks).  I’ve been a bboy for around 3 and a half-ish years now, and I guess you could say I was “trained from the streets”…more like the suburbs (JOKE, LAUGH).  I pop, lock, tut, and do everything in between.  I am also trained and am currently still being trained in ballet, and I dabble in contemporary and have been trained competitively in ballroom as well—but that was years ago.  Suffice to say, dance is my life and my passion.

Next round of our ABDCTop 4 contest is now open!

Thanks to all of you who submitted entries on which ABDC crews will be in the top 4 at the end of this season, in the order of their elimination. If you want to change your vote, here's your weekly chance. Note: there's no penalty for entering each week. If you get it right early, that's the vote that counts! The prize goes to the first person to submit the correct answer, based on which week they submit it. If more than one person gets it right that week, we'll employ a tie-breaker rule.  Click here for contest rules and prizes.

This week was a shocker, since 94% of the entries to date included ReQuest as one of their top 4. So, you probably will want to enter again. Just leave a comment below with your name and your picks, and you're in for another round.  Deadline for this round: midnight on Monday May 2. Good luck!
UPDATE: THIS WEEK'S ROUND IS NOW CLOSED; NO MORE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. The new round will be posted a day or two after the airing of ABDC's Rihanna Challenge.

D-trix Pre-taping interview video: Lil Mama impersonation. love for ICONic Boyz and more

Matt "Dumbo" Nguyen (Poreotics) and Chris Trondsen interviewed ABDC judge D-trix backstage before the taping of ABDC's Katy Perry Challenge. Dtrix talks about how he's excited to see people dance to Katy Perry, the action at World of Dance Dallas, how much he likes the other judges (and doing some impersonations), advice he'd give to IaMmE, and why he really likes ICONic Boyz. Thanks to MOVeMEDIA.

Send some love to ReQuest

I am shocked and truly saddened that ReQuest was sent home so early from this season of America's Best Dance Crew. Seriously, what's wrong with the voters -- is it the international voting issue, or just inability to appreciate great dancing?  ReQuest's performance was superb every week! They brought innovation, fierceness, and precision to all their work every week. I wanted to see their take on many more challenges, and I look forward to seeing them at 2011 Hip Hop International.

This post is only for positive comments about ReQuest. If you have any negative comments about the crew (or anything else), please take it to the Party Room/Critics Corner. All negative comments here will be deleted.

Dance's review of ABDC's Katy Perry Challenge

This week all of the crews came to win! It was a spectacular episode of ABDC, where every crew brought new dimensions to their dancing. It was an exciting episode and I hope the rest of this season will keep getting better! Keep up the good work because you are all inspiring! My favorite crew of the night was IaMmE. and they executed the technique of poppin' perfectly. They were amazing and I can't wait to see what else they have in store this season. The ABDC Katy Perry Party Room is now open -- join us!

The Party Room/Critics Corner for ABDC 6's  Katy Perry Challenge is now open! Join host/moderators Koopa and Tbone, along with lots of other readers as they rave and vent on the best and worst parts of this episode, America's Best Dance Crew in general, Katy Perry, and other things that I can't predict. IMPORTANT: If you want to write a long comment, write in in NotePad or Word and then paste it into the comments field. Otherwise, all your work may disappear if someone posts something new while you're in the middle of writing.

After the show is over: The party has just started, so stick around and join your friends (old, new, and not-yet) to praise, bitch, wish, and amuse. Do voters choose crews on talent, appearance, local pride, or what? Do you agree with MTV's definition of a Superstar? Are the crews getting better or worse? What else are you watching and listening to? This is your party -- snark, humor, nostalgia and almost everything else (except spoilers, spam, obscenity and abject disrespect) are expected and welcome.

What questions would you like us to ask the crews?

Chris Trondsen and various ABDC alums will be interviewing crews backstage at tapings of America's Best Dance Crew this season. Many of you sent us questions at the beginning of the season, and Chris (and other media outlets like Pacific Rim) have asked those intro questions to help you 'meet the crews'. Now that you've met them, what else would you like to learn about them?  Chris wants some new and fresh questions that will interest/amuse/intrigue the crews and the audience alike!

Leave a comment on some questions you'd like to have answered or some challenges you'd like to issue the crews and the judges, either in general or for specific crews/people.  If we use your question, we'll give you credit of course! And, this will be part of a master list; even if we don't use your question this week, it might get asked at the next taping. Thanks!

Judges on video: JC pass-through, D-trix on judging and Quest

--We haven't gotten an interview with JC for a long time, but he did stop to say hi to Jet Li
-- In contrast, D-trix is usually happy to talk to the press. On MTV.com he goes into some detail on his judging style and why he no longer performs with Quest Crew (ABDC3 winners) -- click here to watch. When he spoke with our interviewers, he acted like a fanboy with Jet Li, then elaborates on  how he judges: he 'says what I feel" and does homework on the different crews to prepare for each week's judging. D-trix also tells the one (well, really two) thing(s) that crews need to do to impress him.

Ninjaboi's review of ABDC's Black Eyed Peas Challenge

Hey guys, it’s Ninjaboi again.  So this week it’s Black Eyed Peas week, which I’ve been waiting for ever since I first started following ABDC. Unfortunately they chose to not use as much of their old school stuff, but it’s still all good.  Emotions are running high as people start pulling harder for their respective crews, and start tearing down other crews.  Click here to read the full review.
